Lydgate House Hotel is in a beauty location in the heart of Dartmoor. Many inspiring sites are within walking distance including Postbridge clapper bridge.
The owners and staff were friendly and communicated well.
They went out of their way to accommodate my needs.
The food was outstanding! Everything was cooked fresh and made with local ingredients.

"First class hospitality"​
A stay at Lydgate was just what the doctor ordered. We were greeted and attentively treated like special guests and fed by Sarah, John and Kelly who were the best hosts. In an idyllic spot it’s easy to relax and do nothing here but be present in peace and quiet. Would highly recommend staying in one of the six comfortable rooms overlooking the gorgeous east dart river or looking up the valley.

"Lovely relaxing stay"​
We have just returned from a 3 night stay which was very relaxing
John, Sarah and Kelly made us feel very welcome
The food was lovely and John was very helpful in providing routes of suitable walks
The rest of the time was spent relaxing in the lounge with log burner to keep us warm
The view from our room was a real treat despite inclement weather
Would thoroughly recommend as a place to come and chill, walk and take in beautiful surroundings

Lydgate House gave us a wonderful stay in the heart of Dartmoor. Warm welcoming hosts, a lovely comfortable room with stunning views, a great range of breakfast dishes, and an imaginative a la carte dinner menu made for a perfect break. Our hosts, John, Sarah and Kelly, looked after us beautifully.

"Over and beyond"​
I stayed for the Christmas period and I was made to feel so special, I was so well taken care of nothing was to much trouble and all with a warm smile and laughter. I have not enjoyed a Christmas as thus for a very long, long time. The food, the attention to detail was outstanding. So comfortable and homely. I was sad to leave, but it will not be very long before I return.

"Perfect position, perfect hosts"
This was our 4th stay at Lydgate House and had a wonderful time again. The location is stunning with beautiful views and easy access to high moor. The hosts completely spoilt us and could not have done any more to make our stay a pleasurable one. Breakfasts and dinners are freshly and perfectly cooked, and the service is friendly and helpful. This is the perfect place to get away from it all.
